WHO is the United Bar Poker Tour?

We were started by Casino Masters USA which opened in November 1997 in Colorado. Casino Masters USA creates and manages casino theme parties for private businesses, charity events, and special event productions. The Denver Poker Tour was created in October 2003 after the creation of the "Poker Craze" by ESPNs' broadcasts of past World Series of Poker Events. Since inception, the Denver Poker Tour has operated and staffed over 20,000 individual poker tournaments with an average attendance of over 50 players. In 2007 the Denver Poker Tour morphed into the United Bar Poker Tour, and went National!

The United Bar Poker Tour is the largest FREE Bar Poker Tour Operator in the United States. We currently operate tournament events in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Washington, Utah, and are looking to expand!

Recently the United States Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service stated that the dealers and management of "poker tour" companies were not contractors, but in fact full fledged employees. This meant that "poker tour" companies had to offer like any other LEGAL business:

General Liability Insurance, Workers Compensation, Unemployment Benefits, State Withholding Taxes, Federal Withholding Taxes, Social Security Matching Contribution, and many more. We also had to abide by the EEOC, OSHA, FLSA, USERRA, and Fair Employment Act.

Q: Can I award additional chiops to players for making purchases in my my establishment?

A: No, that is also illegal.

Q: But my "poker tour" company said I could.

A: We have been doing this longer than anyone. If something is legal, we would most likely be doing it. If your company is doing something that we aren't, you might want to check with your legal counsel.
